Winter Solstice

Today marks the first day of winter and the longest day of darkness in the year. Each day after this will include a little more sunlight, giving us a glimmer of hope of the warmth to come.
In my world, solstices and equinoxes are a time of celebration and gathering, filled with food, intentions and love. And although the Winter Solstice includes the same elements of celebration the energy and mood is a bit more somber and quiet. With darkness comes deep reflection. The darkness eliminates the distraction light can bring with all its beauty. While in darkness the connection to self becomes easier, clearer. Journaling first what you are grateful in this world but then adding hopes goals and intentions for the future in the outdoors (despite the cold, dark and quiet) is a beautiful way to connect to yourself on this long, dark evening. Quiet reflection on what you would like to let go of, negative thoughts, patterns and things no longer serving you and your goals for the future is another way to focus and set the tone for this winter.
This year the winter solstice also marks the day of significant alignment in the sky called the "great conjunction." This marks the closest apparent encounter of Jupiter and Saturn in nearly 400 years. The two planets will be closest to each other in the sky tonight, which is also winter solstice, and may be viewed as one point of light, appearing only a tenth of a degree apart. They will remain in close alignment for a few days and will be easily visible to the naked eye when looking toward the southwest just after sunset.
The astrological interpretations indicate this alignment coming to us in this CRAZY time of 2020 shows us a time of rebirth. Rebirth cannot happen without destruction and this year has changed our ENTIRE way of living. Destroyed what norms we knew. So, how do you want to move forward? What does the life of your dreams look like?

If you were looking for a sign to change your life THIS IS IT!
Happy Solstice and merry Yule to all my loved ones, far and near.❤️
