New Moon in Cancer

Have you been feeling emotional and perhaps even stagnant or stuck? Let me personally welcome you to the new moon in Cancer. Being a water sign, Cancer is intimately in tune with emotions and perceptive to the emotions of those around them. And although most new moons are a great time to start a new habit or manifest this one in particular will be a powerful moon to envision your goals and dreams.

Depending on your lunar birth chart you may be craving a change in your career area, or starting a new habit at home or in your personal connections. This is a perfect time to harness change and spark the fire for this new endeavor.

So how? In order to welcome the guidance from the moon it's important to let go and be open. Being brave enough to RELEASE CONTROL and get in receiving and worthy mode. Have you been shaming yourself for what you're not doing or judging your actions based on your past? One of the best ways we can shift our mindset during this new moon is incorporating water into our new moon rituals (remember Cancer is a water sign). Placing a jar of water in the moonlight and drinking this water the next morning while reading positive affirmations, taking a bath after journaling under the full moon or taking a shower; using water to connect to the moon is a deep way to reboot the emotions and our mindset.

The moon we are born under can say a lot about how we process emotion and comfort ourselves and others. The moon loves to reside and feels at home in Cancer being an emotional and intuitive sign. So being honest with ourselves about how we process our emotions is key. Do you stuff things in a bottle until it explodes under pressure? Do you allow yourself to feel your emotions or do you distract yourself with life?
*If you need more information about your moon sign, drop a note below.*

In my journal I start by listing the ways I feel stuck or stagnant as well as all the ways I am shaming or "shoulding" on myself (I should be this way...etc). After this writing exercise I like to take a shower and imagine the negative thoughts and barriers I am facing are washing off me and releasing. This can also be done by washing your hands if you're not a nighttime shower person.

After a shower I like to sit in meditation, keeping a journal close by to use afterwards. Take a few minutes of deep breaths or a breathing exercise (linked below if you need one) and let your breathing become easy and normal and let the eyes close or gaze diffuse. Let the mind wander..... Notice where it goes. Don't bring yourself right back to the present but LET the mind continue to wander. See what feelings come up. Take about 5-10 minutes for this part of the exercise (it's ok to set a timer if you're someone who will only focus on the clock without one).

Now get ready to journal!
Where did your mind wander?
Was it grocery lists, what needs to be done and "shoulds?"
Was it good or bad? Perhaps neutral?
What emotions or feelings came up during this exercise?
Did it make you anxious to allow your mind to wander?

Using the answers to the questions above, it's good to find some patterns of thought you want to let go of, or better yet, you want to focus on.

Now manifest!!!
What do you want your life to look like in a week? In a month? in a year?
What are you afraid of doing bc you may be judged?
What do you want to feel?

Take a moment and visualize how you want your life to look. How you want to feel. Using water again, you can take a bath, or drink some water under the moonlight, or even use some water essential oil spritzer while visualizing this new life. As always end with gratitude and what you are grateful for in this life.

Happy new moon everyone!
