Celebrating the Summer Solstice and the Full Strawberry Moon

Welcome to the Summer Solstice, a day brimming with sunlight and the promise of warmth and growth. The solstice, derived from the Latin words "sol" (sun) and "sistere" (to stand still), symbolizes the moment when the sun appears to pause in its journey across the sky, granting us ample daylight to revel in.

Historical and Astral Insights
Historically, cultures around the world have honored this day with rituals and celebrations. From Stonehenge in England, where ancient civilizations aligned stones to capture the solstice sunrise, to Native American tribes marking the occasion with ceremonies honoring the Earth's abundance, the solstice holds deep cultural and spiritual significance.

Astrologically, the Summer Solstice heralds the Sun's entry into Cancer, a sign associated with nurturing, emotions, and familial bonds. This year, the solstice is complemented by the Full Strawberry Moon, traditionally named by Native American tribes as a signal for the ripe strawberries ready for harvest. Occurring just after the solstice, this full moon amplifies our connection to nature's cycles and invites us to reflect on abundance, growth, and personal transformation.

The moon's placement is coming in the sign of Capricorn as we are on the cusp of Cancer season. Cancer is tied to our domestic lives, heritage, ancestors, past and the home. However, Capricorn is linked to professional success, career, how you are perceived by the public and building wealth and success. The dichotomy of these two signs colliding is a magic combination to tap into personal and career areas of your life.

Personal Reflections on the Solstice
For me, the Summer Solstice evokes a profound sense of homecoming. It's a return to the season of vivid memories—of childhood laughter under the sun, the fragrance of blooming flowers, and the joy of endless summer days. This day feels like a reunion with the essence of ourselves, a "Welcome Home Party" where we reconnect with the warmth and energy that summer brings.

Rituals for the Solstice and Full Moon
How can you celebrate this magical convergence of the Summer Solstice and the Full Strawberry Moon?
  • Connect with Nature: Spend time outdoors, whether it's a walk in a nearby park or a moment of quiet contemplation in your garden. Let the sun's rays and the moon's glow on you as you take a nature walk without distraction to bask in the Summer magic around.
  • Feast and Gather: Enjoy a meal with loved ones, celebrating summer's bounty. Share stories, laughter, and gratitude for the abundance in your life. Make a Summer bucket list for you or your family.
  • Fire Ritual: Light a bonfire or a small candle outdoors. As the flames dance, reflect on what you wish to release—old habits, fears, or emotional baggage from the past season. Or you can burn wish paper of all you need to let go of from the previous season.

Journal Prompts for Solstice and Full Moon Reflections:
  1. Summer Solstice: What does this season mean to me personally? How can I bring more of its essence into my daily life?
  2. When was a time you felt like you truly belonged? Who was there? Where were you? What were you doing?
  3. What in your home makes it feel like home?
  4. How do you want to be perceived in the world? What legacy do you want to leave?
  5. What has happened in the last 6 months? What do you need to let go or what cycles you've developed in the last 6 months (since the winter solstice) do you want to let go of?
  6. What am I harvesting in my life right now—physically, emotionally, spiritually? What lessons have I learned this year?
  7. What did you do today that brought you light inside?

I like to write anything I need to let go of on a piece of wish paper and burn it. You can use normal paper and burn it in a fire safe area and container like a fire place or a fire pit.

This Summer Solstice and Full Strawberry Moon, let's celebrate the light within and around us, honoring the journey of growth and renewal that unfolds with each turn of the seasons.
