Clove for Toothaches

Ah clove, a VERY old friend of mine. Long before I found doTERRA I found clove oil. When my son was at that teething age multiple teething aids (gels, tablets, etc) were recalled. As a new mom I was wary to use any option after reading horror stories on how the products came to be recalled, however, my poor son was miserable. My dear friend who had a little one a few months older than my son recommended olive oil and a little of a clove essential oil. After the initial reaction from the horrible taste from my son, he seemed calmer… Sure enough the clove oil helped relieve my son's pain. I later found out in most partial fillings done by dentists there is a clove oil added to it for natural pain relief for the nerves.
So when I think clove, I think mouth aches. This POWERFUL oil can replace those OTC pain relief gels and last longer. Its main chemical component, eugenol, makes it a very stimulating and energizing essential oil. Always dilute, and remember that means with OIL not WATER. This oil can be “hot” and intense so it’s best to dilute with use.
Since the kiddos are back at school it’s good to know that those hair critters that find a home on kids heads, the ones that are super contagious and schools no longer keep them home from school; it has been shown that those critters cannot live in the presence of clove oil. That powerful eugenol at work. So this time of year I make a little diluted spray for hats and pillows to ward off those nasty creatures.
