Suspension

“The mind is the king of the senses, but the breath is the king of the mind.”

~BKS Iyengar

This week in our practice we practiced the suspension of breath. That space between the inhale and exhale. Just noticing this space at first. Then gently extending this space yet checking in with the feeling. What emotions, physical feelings happen when you try to extend this space? ❤

Yes, you can feel anxiety, and panic as needing breath or needing to release breath takes over. But stick with this gentle exploration. As you lay on your mat and close your eyes, how does it feel to slowly extend the space in between the breath? Can you find that gentle sense of peace? Can you find the quiet space of freedom in the suspension? Just as the light in me IS the light in you, so it is that this peace and freedom is accessible to you if it is accessible to me.
